Mortal Kombat Review
Mortal Kombat is the fighting video game that still stands tall in front of the new age combat and action games. Developed by NetherRealm Studios and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, Mortal Kombat is now deadlier and fiercer than ever.
As most of you have been expecting 3D graphics, this is not the case with Mortal Kombat. But this doesn’t mean that the developers have compromised with the graphics and design aspects. The 2D dimensional game design settings look eerie yet fascinating.
The roaring flames from the buildings, the molten lava erupting from the dungeons, and shattered limbs scattered on the combat arena; the surroundings instill fear and aggression in the players.
First launched in 1992, Mortal Kombat retains the same charm in 2017 as well. Since this is the reboot version of original Mortal Kombat, you will feel the instant connection with the game. This is the ninth installment in Mortal Kombat franchise. The story of this present version can be linked to the earliest versions of the game.
Raiden, the protector of the realm Earth, tries to contact his past self to alter the aftermaths of Armageddon events. The present Raiden is about to succumb to injuries inflicted by Shao Kahn. Raiden sends a positive message to the past Raiden that the latter “must win”. Thus, the Mortal Kombat takes you through the recourse action in Mortal Kombat 1, 2, and 3.
Mortal Kombat features a Story mode, a Fatality mode, the Challenge Tower, tag team fighting, and so on. In the Challenge Tower mode, there are more than 300 challenges. You earn rewards for clearing each one of them.
The controls have been designed in a way to render complete control over the character. For example, the four buttons on the controller control the actions of four limbs. Thus, you can plan your attacks with precision.
Further, the super meter lets you perform attack and defense moves at three different levels. The first level is used to deliver special attacks, the second level delivers combo attacks, and the third level delivers fatal X-ray moves.
Replay Value: 4.5
If you have been an avid fan of Mortal Kombat, you don’t need a reason to play this game. And if you haven’t played it yet, you must be living in oblivion. The 3D characters in the game look fascinating while rendering fatal blows on the opponents.
The simulation of scary surroundings and the intuitiveness of the game are enough to grab player’s attention. Further, numerous gaming modes and challenges tempt players to seek revenge on the opponents.
To conclude, we didn’t find any reasons for keeping you away from the game. Whether its spectacular graphics and background score, gory fatalities, intriguing storyline, or fiery characters such as Scorpion, Kung Lao, Kitana, Sektor, Jade, and others; Mortal Kombat triumphs in all aspects.
Further, Mortal Kombat supports both offline and online gaming. You can play in the solo player, multiplayer, and co-op modes. The comparison of scores on leaderboards compels players to aim for more.
