Burnout Paradise Review. Enjoy Thrilling Racing

The open world racing game was created by Criterion Games for the Microsoft Windows, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 platforms. Here’s a full review of the fun driving game offering the ultimate gaming experience.

Graphics: 4.5

The game holds up well in terms of the graphics used. There are improvements, obviously, but in the sense that players can tell this overall design has lasted and still rocks. Some of the visual attributes that you see in other games of the modern times – such as tire marks, light glistening from the glass windows of buildings, dynamic backgrounds and smoke from a spinout – are also here.

Gameplay: 4.5

Burnout Paradise keeps it simple. You delve into the game and can choose from a variety of features such as crashing your opponents in the wild, time trials and causing mayhem in general. The game has no storyline which may seem odd, and you won’t be required to go for revenge missions or join other crews. It’s just about you, one versatile city and a range of seemingly endless objectives scattered throughout the city.

Burnout Paradise comes with some of the most significant changes in the history of the franchise. Every single aspect of the game has seen some shift in design. Some of these changes work seamlessly, while some don’t work so well. What the game winds up with is an intense, perfectly controlled and blazingly fast racing game that you can’t afford to miss. Another interesting factor worth noting is that you get the freedom to progress at your own level and pace.

Controls: 4.5

The controls are quite simple. You have an in-game indicator that guides you on the position of the finishing line. However, it doesn’t assist with precise navigation such as turns. Additionally, you can go for the shortcuts and devise a strategy to get to the finish line faster. To restore things from the brink such as when you get stuck, you can use the E-brake and spawn anew.

Replay Value: 4.0

The game doesn’t have much regarding replay value. However, if you have friends to play with, then you’re set for infinite replayability. At first, you’ll find the city to be quite overwhelming. But as you complete events, you become more familiar with the mechanics and get better cars. The online challenges are the same on replay value, but the overall fun increases when you have people to compete with.

If you love arcade racing adventures, then you should try this one. The game allows for the kind of freedom that’s not offered by any racing game of the recent times. New players will find the experience to be bleak, considering that the game has been around for 10 years now and may not be entirely on par with the graphics or storylines of the current titles. Most importantly, the developers have created a racing experience which can be best referred to as controlled chaos.

  • The open world racing is incredible
  • Controls feel superb
  • Satisfactory crashes
  • The soundtrack.
  • Bleak color palette
  • Several dated mechanics.
