Skate 3 Game Review

Skate 3 is a skateboarding video game developed by EA Black Box and published by Electronic Arts (EA). This is an open-world environment game and a sequel to Skate 2 and Skate 1.

Graphics — 4/5

The developers have shifted the gameplay in a new city of Port Carverton. Thus, the visuals and graphics have undergone changes to incorporate new surroundings and tracks. But, the changes are not major. You can witness a glimpse of the previous city San Vanelona.

The visuals are crisp and clear. The graphics have been dealt with utmost precision. However, when it comes to player customization, you have got limited options.

Gameplay — 4/5

Skate 3 is a skateboarding game wherein you have to skateboard across the city and earn points. You can play it in single mode, or you can play it in multiplayer mode. However, multiplayer gaming is not supported in offline mode. As mentioned earlier, the game is set amidst the landscape of Port Carverton. There are three distinct regions in the city – Downtown, the University, and Industrial. All districts are unique in themselves with different infrastructure and landscapes.

To rev up the engagement parameter, the developers have included famous skateboarding players in the game. These include Darren Navarette, Eric Koston, Chris Cole, Jason Lee, and others. Moreover, the game has Skate School wherein, Jason portrays the character of Coach Frank.

The game incorporates two new game levels – Easy and Hardcore. As evident by the name, the player is able to perform stunts easily in the Easy mode whereas, in Hardcore mode, you need to handle skateboarder’s movement precisely. Further, there is an addition of three new gaming modes – 1-Up, Domination, and Own The Lot.

Controls — 3.5/5

The game is all about the controls. As you are skateboarding across different terrains, your skills are tested. The accumulation of points will depend on your experience and management of the skateboarder’s movements.

In the Easy mode, you can perform tricks with ease, and you can efficiently control the character. But as you embrace the Hardcore mode, you need to get better at controlling the movements. When you play it regularly, you will hone your control skills.

Replay Value — 4/5

Skate 3 holds decent replay value as certain additions make the game more interesting. For example, you can participate in co-op gaming in the online mode. The missions can be accomplished in a team as well. When you can play the game in both single and multiplayer mode, the replay value will surely increase.

Further, in the 1-Up gaming mode, you can compete against other players. This allows you to aim for a better score, and emerge victorious without losing a life.

The Bottom Line

To conclude, we can say that Skate 3 is an intriguing game if you are not into action and RPG games. There is less violence, and hence, it is ideal for players of all ages. Both children and adults can play Skate 3.

Further, the difficulty level of the game has been reduced by a fraction. Hence, you will not face any difficulty in fulfilling the task of completing objectives. The only constraint is that multiplayer gaming is not supported in offline mode.

  • Amazing graphics and visuals
  • Open world game
  • High-level user engagement
  • Optimum difficulty levels
  • No offline multiplayer support
  • Limited customization options
